REGISTERING YOUR CAR FOR THE ROAD

By far the biggest number of questions that I receive have to do with registering the vehicle. Is it road legal? How do I register this vehicle?
Will I be able to drive it in my country etc?

Firstly I would like to say that the JEFFREY EV1 is designed to meet ALL the requirements throughout the world. What really matters is the standard of workmanship and that you have incorporated ALL the requirements into the vehicle that are required by your particular country.

If you have any doubts I would recommend regardless that you contact your vehicle licensing department. I would also recommend that you do not take the first answer you are given.

A further recommendation is that you have your vehicle inspected by a friendly automobile mechanic. It is always possible that you have missed something of importance.

BRITAIN & EUROPE

In Britain and Europe registering a home constructed vehicle comes under the Single Vehicle Approval or SVA for short.
(I will be publishing a synopsis of the requirements at a later date).

AMERICA

In the US the requirements are similar to that of Europe there may well be variations.

CALIFORNIA

Use this link http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/spcnsreg.htm

(Other States have very similar web sites - let me have the URLs and I will put them up on this site for others.)

Note: In nearly every country throughout the world have magazines dealing with Kit Cars and Specials. These will help in finding insurance parts and may well help in giving the right advice on registration.
